AUDITIONING, SHOWCASING AND WORKING FOR US

August 11, 2022 by chris mcalonan

We are always keen to meet new and existing talented artists currently based, or who have a base, in Northern Ireland that they can utilise for jobs here.

As we supply a wide range of entertainment to clients across Northern Ireland and beyond, we seek highly talented artists in our books who we can call on to help us meet the (sometimes) unusual and (always) interesting requests we receive. We have a great talent pool but are always looking to add to it throughout the year. Interested in meeting us? Sign up to our talent pool.

We Love variety, reach out!

We want to hear from you, whether you’re an actor, singer, musician, dancer, circus performer, clown, aerial artist, presenter, puppeteer, storyteller, comedian or beyond! If you have a skill or talent we haven’t encountered yet then please tell us about it, we want to learn more. We are interested in you as an individual artist, what you want to achieve and how we can be a part of that journey.

The work we do varies from job to job and we want to meet artists who are interested in the opportunity to be part of bespoke entertainment packages supplied to our clients. One job may have an actor working as an animation performer in a Bridgerton themed Ball; immersing guests in the experience and filling them in on the latest scandal as they arrive. The next, a group of singers belting out the best of The Beatles on stage at a swingin’ 60th Celebration with our Groovy Baby show.

Or, maybe you’ll find yourself covered in sequins, who knows…

Each new event offers new possibilities, and the opportunity for you as an artist to work and network with a variety of artists while engaging in engaging and exciting performance work. We believe Northern Ireland can be better connected and we want to be a part of that. Connecting performers with one another is important because we want to help bring about a larger community of artists who are excited by each other’s work and talent.

Working with Peter Corry Productions

We always seek to give you as much notice as possible for any work and you set the boundaries and availability. We are not an agency and you are not obliged to take work that we may offer you but we do ask you to communicate with us to let us know your availability and to be in good contact when we do put in an availability request.

We ensure our artists are kept up to date and informed. Being kept in the dark isn’t good for anyone and we offer an honest and upfront working relationship that you can trust. We realise it takes time to get to know us so if you want to check in with any of our other artists to see what we are like, we can put you in touch.

We understand artists may already have commitments and other performances lined up; therefore, most events vary in terms of commitment; some exclusively being weekend, evening and seasonal work. Others, like ‘The Showman is Coming’, offer potential recurring work for performers.

While most of our work has been Northern Ireland based, previous jobs have allowed us to take artists to perform across Ireland, the UK and the Netherlands.

If you are excited by what we have to offer,
then we are just as excited to hear from you.

Get In Touch Here

How the process works

Through our talent page we gather our database of performers and to be considered for jobs we need to have all your information quickly to hand. We realise a lot of this may be on your CV but we need it in a format we can search quickly so thanks for writing some of that out again. The media links are also important, please send us a mixture of photo’s and recorded content so we can have the best representations of you possible.

If you are currently working with us, don’t forget to send us your new media!

Student or In Training?

Working in the arts and entertainment is all about relationships so we want to start one with you.

Whether you are just about to head off to train or are in the middle of it all, let us know about you and then when you graduate we want to hear all about what you’ve learned on your journey and meet you!

We periodically hold audition/showcase days where you bring the best of yourself to show us what you can do. That can be in one discipline or a mixture, whatever you are confident to show us.

Under 18’s

We currently only employ those performers who are 18+ but if you are 17 and it’s your birthday soon, please get in touch and let us know about you. We’d love to meet you when the time is right.

Self-Tapes

We do accept self tapes but we don’t prefer them.

There’s no substitute for meeting you in real life so that you have the time to get to know us and vice versa so we will always prioritise those we’ve met  in person meetings and showcasing over self tapes.

If you’ve got any questions then please get in touch: fleur@petercorryproductions.com

February 2022 News

February 1, 2022 by chris mcalonan

After some much needed time off for our team, we are back feeling energised and excited about the year ahead. We did just want to take a moment however to reflect on the run up to the end of 2021 and celebrate the busy end of an unpredictable year.

Despite covid, government restrictions and ever changing rules we kept up with the pace and were able to deliver consistently to our high standards even as things kept moving all around us.

The Showman Is Coming

This continues to be a popular show and performance request by both the public bodies and corporate clients. The Showman cast entertained at Carnfunnock for Halloween and also for a very appreciative audience at the Business Eye Awards.

The Wish Sisters

We were invited to create a new performance to tie in with Belfast City Council’s theme of ‘Once Upon A Time In Belfast’ and we came up with a fresh new girl group called ‘The Wish Sisters’.

With loads of energy, powerhouse vocals and plenty of personality, our Wish Sisters entertained the crowds from the balcony of The Fountain Centre. While their voices could be heard ringing out across the town, we also welcomed one sister who performed and brought Sign Language Interpretation to all the performances. The camping for the legal recognition of British Sign Language (BSL) is currently moving in a positive direction and there are hopes this could become realised before the end of the year.

This won’t be the last of The Wish Sisters and we look forward to seeing them later in the year.

Victoria Square

If you made a visit to Victoria square in the run up to Christmas you would have been hard pushed to have missed our performers. Numerous elves, dancers, fairy god-mothers and princes entertained throughout the building bringing cheer to the Merry & Bright Trail, Merry & Bright Brunches and to the general ambience of the building.

Walkabout Performers

Image: Jim Kells

In a new development this year, we began providing more walkabout style performers, shown here are a couple of examples with our coach men for a wedding, and our ‘flash, bang, wallop’ Paparazzi who brought so much fun and energy to this red carpet event. If you’d like to enquire about these kind of performers please get in touch.

Mirror Mirror Belfast

Peter Corry Productions were brought on board by Belfast City Council to provide their major outdoor animation programme for their festive season. Across 4 weekends we made it snow, had roaming giants in the city, pop up fairytale performers, community group involvement and a social media competition running.

It was very satisfying to bring smiles to peoples faces of all ages and different walks of life after a tough year.

Christmas At The Cathedral

Images: Neil Harrison Photography

It’s been a long 2 years wait but we were very happy to finally return with a Christmas celebration with ‘Christmas At The Cathedral’ back at St Anne’s Cathedral. The reaction to the shows was so positive and it was great to see so many familiar faces back in the audience. For many people, this was a first time out to an event since the pandemic began so we worked hard with our front of house teams to make this as smooth and as safe an experience as possible even in the middle of changing restrictions.

The results of our customer satisfaction survey confirmed this and we were warmed to receive such positive feedback. We take all comments on board and look forward to making this year’s shows even more enjoyable as we hope to see our industry continue to open up.

See more about our process.

Got Talent?

Image: Colette O’Neill

If so, we want to hear from you. In the last 12 months we’ve employed singers, dancers, actors, walkabout, presenters, musicians, quiz show hosts, circus artists and speciality performers to a wide range of clients. If you’ve got skills and you are based in or, have a base in Northern Ireland we want to know about you.

We hold 1-2 open auditions/showcases per year to meet new performers. You must have completed a talent form for us to have your details on record and be able to get in touch. Our next date will be in the Spring. With our 2022 diary filling up we want to be able to keep you in mind for our bookings.

Autumn 2021 News

September 10, 2021 by chris mcalonan

We are back!

After so many months without live, in-person events, we were delighted to welcome audiences back to the wide range of productions we produced and were involved with across July, August, and September.

Auditions

We are always keen to expand and diversify our talent pool and see what new and exciting performers we can include for future events; so we kicked our summer off by holding auditions in July with a second day in September. This was an opportunity for us to meet a range of artists who are currently working across Northern Ireland. The standard of auditions was exceptionally high and we were excited to be able to incorporate some of the performers we met into our Summer delivery of productions and events.

We would like to thank all those who came along on the day to audition!

It’s not too late to register with us although we won’t be auditioning again until 2022, if interested please get in touch by completing our talent form.

Audition Sign-up

Theatre at the Mill – Summer Music Spectacular

We were delighted to return to Theatre at the Mill on the 6th and 7th August for our ‘Summer Music Spectacular’. Peter was joined by a number of past performers from the youth summer musical theatre scheme he directed at the Theatre. Since these productions 11 years ago, there have been a great number of those young performers who have subsequently gone on to be professionals in the dance, theatre and film industries. To celebrate the legacy of the course and the venue, Peter was excited to invite a number of these performers back to perform alongside him. These included actors, singers, musicians, a ballet dancer and an opera singer who are all currently working all across the world (from Switzerland and Poland, to Qatar!).

As the first performance back indoors, it was extremely significant to have shared it with all the wonderful performers who came back to join us.

Thank you to all the staff at Theatre at the Mill who made us feel so welcome and supported us during the shows. With such positive audience feedback, we were ecstatic to have gotten back into a venue and do what we do best!

Sunday in the Park with Peter – Crawfordsburn Country Park

Sunday 22nd August we were excited to welcome audiences to our outdoor concert event – ‘Sunday in the Park with Peter – Starring Peter Corry, Band and Special Guests’ at Crawfordsburn Country Park. While entirely outdoors, the venue allowed us to offer overhead coverage in case of rain (which luckily was not needed!).

The event featured a range of instrumental pieces from the band, including both traditional and classical, a mix of solos and duets from Peter and special guests Ciara Power and Matthew Campbell, with a long overdue catch up with those in the audience.

We were delighted with how many people attended and, even with Covid-19 procedures still in place, audiences were eager for the return of live performances.

A massive thank you for all in attendance for coming along and we look forward to welcoming you back at future events – long may it continue!

Stones In His Pockets

Choreographer Fleur Mellor was back in the studio rehearsing with ’Stones In His Pockets’ with actors Gerard McCabe & Shaun Blaney.

Directed by Matthew McElhinney, this production was produced by The Barn Theatre, Cirencester, to celebrate 25 years of this award-winning play by Marie Jones. With a fresh remounting and new aspects of the writing realised through film & projection, Fleur was brought in to assist in movement direction and create a showstopping number for the production.

Virtual Offering

Despite the reopening of venues, we are still thrilled to have hosted numerous online events throughout the summer. Highlights have included a Virtual Online Festival for Allen and Overy and The SHS Big Game Show!

Throughout the summer we have continued delivering our ‘Big Night In!’ in partnership with Callow Events. This hour-long online TV gameplay brings you the best from your favourite classic game shows; Catchphrase, Who Wants to Be A Millionaire and Countdown but to name a few! To find out more about the Big Night In and what we can offer to companies, visit Our Virtual Events Page.

Back in Bangor – Ards and North Down Council

On Saturday 21st August we provided over 200 performers for ‘Back in Bangor’; run by the Ards and North Down Council. This was inspired by our 2020 Christmas event ‘Window Wonderland’. Despite some wet weather, our performers entertained crowds in Bangor from 12pm to 6pm with bite sized performances that occurred every 20-30 minutes.

Partnering with Ards and North Down Council for the event, the programming was designed to help boost footfall in retailers across the town centre while also providing entertainment to the public in a Covid-safe way. From a bathing belle to a singing trawler man, we helped animate the Bangor High Street by placing performers in shop windows. We provided an aerial stage space that saw performers flying high over the waterline of the Marina and in addition to this, we also provided entertainment for 3 separate stages along the Bangor Marina. This featured groups such as Bangor Ukes, Festival Brass, The Victory Rollers, Real Princesses NI, and Belfast School of Performing Arts. It was also an opportunity for us to reunite our ‘The Showman is Coming’ cast who hadn’t performed together since March 2020. Peter and the cast performed excerpts from ‘The Showman is Coming’ which toured across the Island of Ireland in 2019 and 2020. We also saw the debut of our nautical-themed boy band – The Shanty Boys.

We have received great feedback from the event and would like to thank Ards and North Down Council for all their hard work in pulling the event together and giving us the opportunity to provide so many incredible performers.

Maritime Mile – Belfast City Council

On the 4th and 5th September, we provided performers for Belfast City Council’s event – Maritime Mile. Taking place along the iconic Belfast Waterfront and Maritime Mile; from Sailortown, City Quays, Donegal Quay to Queen’s Quay and into Titanic quarter. Belfast City Council delivered a safe and enjoyable programme of activity that celebrates Belfast’s rich Maritime heritage and the amazing assets that are along the Maritime Mile.

One of the goals of the events was for families to come down, go on an adventure and walk the Maritime Mile – here they would have encountered our wonderful performers; a storytelling pirate, a ukulele playing mermaid and two newly wed tourists who were excited to get off their cruise ship and explore Belfast!

Our performers entertained the public as they roamed along the Maritime Mile.

A massive thank you to Belfast City Council for having us be part of such an exciting event!

Tide and Turf, Portavogie – Ards and North Down Council

Following the success of ‘Back in Bangor’, Ards and North Down Council asked us to provide some of our Bangor performers for their ‘Tide and Turf’ event in Portavogie on Saturday 11th September. This festival is a celebration of fantastic local produce and a foodie heaven giving the public a chance to pick up delicious treats and meet and great local chefs who were competing to win the ‘Great Peninsula Menu’.

We were delighted to have a return performance from ‘The Shanty Boys’, our singing sailors from Bangor, wonderful aerial performances and of course, our hot booking for the summer, the ukulele playing mermaid!

What’s Next?

Now that summer has come to an end and our mermaid has to go back to the ocean, we are planning for what comes next… As we still await updates on indoor events and restrictions moving forward, we remain optimistic that we will be able to continue delivering exciting and entertaining in-person events and shows!

We look forward to welcoming audiences back to our ‘Christmas at the Cathedral’ event, when we will return to St Anne’s Cathedral Belfast for an evening of Christmas-inspired entertainment that is sure to get everyone in the Christmas spirit!

Make sure to check our social media pages and website for when dates are released for these events.

Let’s all go out to help out

In the meantime, we continue to talk, dream and plan as far as we can about what opportunities we can realise. If anyone would like to talk and dream with us about anything they would like to consider going forward please get in touch.
