Client • Dairy UK and the IDF

International Dairy Federation World Dairy Summit

Attended by more than 1,500 delegates from the global dairy industry, the annual World Dairy Summit takes place over a few days and combines conference and social events. In 2017, Peter Corry Productions was approached by Dairy UK and the International Dairy Federation (IDF) to provide curated entertainment for both the welcome reception and closing gala dinner.

Taking place at the Waterfront’s newly built International Convention Centre (ICC), the aim was to create a memorable Summit and showcase Northern Ireland as a desirable location for hosting other international conferences.

Traditional Welcome Reception

The focus of the opening ceremony was to highlight Belfast as the Summit’s host city, while also showcasing the UK as a whole. Our team subsequently supplied a range of high-quality images and video footage of Northern Ireland, England, Wales and Scotland, projecting these onto a giant screen on-stage.

Performances from the Ulster Orchestra’s brass section, acclaimed pianist Ruth McGinley and the Ballyclare Male Choir coordinated with the visuals – each region accompanied by its own musical arrangement, as per the client’s brief. All of this fused together to create a compelling narrative and unique introduction to the Summit, hosted by Northern Irish actor, Ian McElhinney (Game of Thrones, Derry Girls, Krypton).

Circus-themed Gala Dinner Performance

As the Summit’s finale, the brief for the gala dinner was to deliver entertainment which would be a fitting and memorable end to the week’s events.

Selecting a vintage circus theme, the initial drinks reception included a ‘Living Gallery’ of performers, with guests invited to view their elaborate body art and costumes up-close. This set a relaxed, fun tone for the evening. Our ringmaster then called everyone to dinner, while a piper welcomed the IDF president, who was presented with a ‘dram’ of whiskey in a nod to her Scottish Origins.

The element of surprise featured throughout, with performers disguised as guests breaking into song during dinner, and a stilt dancer and violinist entertaining between courses. The grand finale was a 20-minute musical production comprising an aerial artist, dancers, singers and musicians, with a surprise reveal of a choir in the middle of all this.

“Quite Simply, Superb”

Delivering a full production package for the IDF, the show generated fantastic feedback. Peter Corry Productions managed everything from start to finish, sourcing all of the performers and providing all choreography, sound and lighting. This included a high-definition video wall and two live camera operators showing a live feed of the event. We further designed and supplied the stage elements, costumes and all other associated materials.

“Thanks to Peter Corry Productions for the amazing work you did. I have been going to World Dairy Summits around the world for 20 years and without a doubt, I can think of none better. When the delegates have forgotten the content of the conferences, they will remember both the Opening Ceremony and the Gala Dinner for a long time to come. They were, quite simply, superb.”

Client • Mary Peters Trust

Mary Peters: 40 Golden Years

2012 marked the 40th anniversary of Mary Peters’ Olympic Gold win at Munich. To celebrate the occasion, the Mary Peters Trust wanted to curate a special evening at the Grand Opera House as a surprise for their founder. Having approached Peter Corry Productions for assistance, the brief was to highlight both Mary’s Olympic achievement as well as the ongoing work of the Mary Peters Trust in supporting young Northern Irish athletes.

With a key element to the evening enhancing the visibility of the Trust, it was important to curate an event with high-profile guests – both within the sporting world as well as outside of it.

Delivering full-service provision, our team worked closely with the Mary Peters Trust to curate a packed programme and a star-studded guest list, with Olympic medallists, media personalities and other well-known names in the audience. We also organised a range of household names to deliver entertainment and made Mary the star of the show in a ‘This is Your Life-style’ discussion.

Celebrity Contributors

Instrumental in bringing the event together, Northern Irish broadcaster and journalist, Gerry Kelly, hosted the evening’s entertainment, which saw Mary being interviewed onstage by celebrities including Patrick Kielty, Jackie Fullerton, Sue Barker and Eamonn Holmes. Discussing her many achievements, they were also joined throughout the evening by Olympic medallists such as Sir Steve Redgrave, Dame Kelly Holmes, Jane Torville and Duncan Goodhew.

Legendary Performers

May McFetridge was also on hand to deliver a few laughs, with performances also coming from actor Dan Gordon and Belfast’s ‘mentalist’, David Meade, who thrilled the crowd with his mind-control antics. There was also music from artists including Van Morrison, Phil Coulter, Brian Kennedy and our own Peter Corry.

Exceptional Standards

To ensure a seamless evening, Peter Corry Productions worked closely with the Mary Peters Trust to structure the entire programme and manage all aspects of the event, including script editing. Our expertise in delivering high-quality productions within tight timeframes meant we were able to coordinate general set-up, rehearsals and presentation of the live event in just 12 hours – all to our usual exceptional standard.

“Myself and my Trust have collaborated on this and a number of other events and enjoyed working with both Fleur and Peter.”

Client • Callow Event Management

The Cathedral Gala

In October 2019, Peter Corry Productions was invited to produce a musical theatre-style performance for a charity gala evening being produced by Callow Event Management at St Anne’s Cathedral in Belfast. For this particular project, we were tasked with curating a single element to compliment and fit into the rest of the evening’s activities, rather than producing the entire show.

The gala was organised on behalf of Fisherwick Presbyterian & St Brigid’s Parish in South Belfast, with the aim of raising funds to assist their work in supporting local communities. With 400 invited guests, the evening included a live and silent auction – which generated more than £100,000 – in addition to the programme of entertainment, including a performance from The Priests.

The key objective for this particular event was to deliver high-class entertainment which would maintain the elegant ambience of the evening and enthral guests. Everything had to be polished to perfection, delivered faultlessly and have added wow factor, to ensure a performance that was fitting for the stunning surrounds of St Anne’s Cathedral.

West End-Inspired Performance

With the focus of the evening on raising as much money as possible, it was more important than ever that guests enjoyed a spectacular and memorable occasion. Our performance had to complement the rest of the evening’s entertainment while being distinctive in its own right.

Seamless Performance

With this in mind, Peter Corry Productions met the brief by curating an extra-special musical theatre performance in the traditional style of a West End stage show. Working with a variety of professional singers and dancers – including a youth choir, as requested by the client – we delivered a slick, seamless performance with superior choreography and excellent presentation.

Immersive Experience

As always, our attention to detail was second-to-none, while our skill in shaping performances to suit different event spaces meant that guests were fully immersed throughout the show, no matter where they were sitting. As with any live event, we remained fully flexible on the night, problem-solving as and when any issues arose and ensuring that our performance delighted the audience from beginning to end.

“We were just blown away by the standard of performance that Peter Corry Productions curated for this special evening. Peter and Fleur were fantastic to work with, keeping us involved in every element of the curating process and carefully listening to our client feedback, but also advising and guiding us along the way. On the evening, our guests were simply blown away and what in fact was a 30-minute performance, felt like it was over in flash.

The whole performance flowed perfectly. Peter Corry Productions continues to be a reliable source of entertainment for our high-end events, a company whom we can rely on to deliver an exceptionally polished and engaging show, time and time again.”
