Client • Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council (LCCC)

Mayor's Day Celebrations

With a packed programme of family-friendly entertainment planned for the 2019 Mayor’s Day Celebrations, Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council wanted to add a crowd-pleasing central performance to the day’s events. Having already decided on an overall circus theme, their brief was for a high-quality presentation which would engage a large crowd at the main stage and integrate seamlessly with everything else.

Full-Service Package

To achieve this, we delivered a spectacular outdoor performance of The Showman Is Coming to suit both the style of the event and its location. A medley of musical delights that fuses everything from the extravagance of Moulin Rouge to the excitement of The Greatest Showman, our production was hosted by Peter and included an eclectic cast.

A highly visual show combining the talents of multiple dancers, singers and circus artists, we provided a full-service package, supplying and installing everything from stage, sound and lighting elements, to high-performance LED screens and pyrotechnics. We were further responsible for all general production and direction, along with the musical direction.

Theatrical Extravaganza

With a total of 13,500 people attending the Mayor’s Day celebrations, our performance fully delivered on the Council’s brief, fitting in perfectly with the rest of its programme and engaging the family audience.

Selecting all of the performers – a talented troupe of 30 singers, dancers and circus artists – we supplied all costumes, as well as devising the choreography. We also assembled a choir to perform at the event’s flamboyant finale.

Ulster Folk Park Museum: Christmas Activation 2019

Throughout the year the Ulster Folk Park Museum offers a range of interactive and engaging experiences for visitors, including at Christmas. In 2019, National Museums NI put out a call for theatrical and animation services as they were keen to re-energise the Folk Park’s vintage streetscapes and provide a more consistent immersive visitor experience.

Watch the video below to check out our work on this event.

Authentic Visitor Experiences

Part of their Christmas Activation experience, the brief was to work collaboratively with their Visitor Services and Curatorial teams, with a fast turnaround required to ensure that everything was in place before Christmas. At the heart of the brief was transforming the currently less engaging parts of the outdoor 1920s Christmas Townland and Rural Area sections, creating a sense of wonder and fully engaging visitors.

A wider aim was to maintain the Ulster Folk Park Museum’s reputation for providing original and authentic visitor – and Christmas – experiences in the Greater Belfast area.

A magical vintage Christmas experience

Working collaboratively with the Visitor Services and Curatorial teams, Peter Corry Productions devised a number of festive-themed animation and visual elements and installed these at the Folk Park.

Keen to create a magical, Christmas atmosphere we provided snow machines for a fun, interactive experience – our concept of ‘a white Christmas guaranteed’ for every visitor. We also set up a variety of outdoor projections which displayed a selection of carefully curated vintage video footage on the surrounding architecture, as well as installing up-lighting for added atmosphere.

A Seamless Experience

Working closely with the museum staff, we consulted with them on the most appropriate recorded footage to use for the projections. This ensured that all footage remained faithful to the era and complemented the various other elements of the Christmas Activation initiative.

The end result saw our animations and visuals link the museum’s existing displays together to create a seamless experience which kept visitors engaged at every stage of their journey around the park. With hundreds of visitors to the site over the festive period, the event ultimately exceeded the client’s expectations and was deemed a great success.

Feelin' Festive: Christmas Lights Switch-On

With Christmas light switch-ons taking place in a range of locations throughout each council area every year, consistency of these events is increasingly key in many constituencies. Indeed, when Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council asked Peter Corry Productions to curate a series of fun-packed, family shows for seven such events across the borough in 2019, uniformity was top of the agenda.

Exceptional Performances

Our brief was subsequently to provide the same high-quality entertainment at each switch- on location – something suitable for all the family. As always, our experienced team pulled out all the stops to ensure exceptional performances that every town could enjoy, while also fulfilling all of the council’s requirements.

Crowd-pleasing Christmas Shows

As our Feelin’ Festive shows were included as part of ANBC’s wider programme of events within the community, we had to ensure that our performances reflected council’s brand identity as well as meeting the audiences’ needs. As such, we had to deliver on their key objectives for public events and keep the crowds engaged.

Working within the council’s budget, we sourced four singers and two dancers for a fun-filled 40-minute performance, performing various hit songs alongside well-known carols. This balance of popular and traditional music ensured that there was something for everyone to enjoy – young and old alike. Meanwhile, always keen to deliver fun, immersive experiences, our programme naturally encouraged audience interaction and the crowds were eager to join in, singing and dancing along with us. This, along with the usual playful repartee between performers and audience members, created great energy and buzz at each event.

Fully Tailored Productions

Specially devised for ANBC, the Feelin’ Festive shows illustrate our flexibility in delivering bespoke productions tailored to our client’s needs. As with any live event, being able to react quickly to unexpected scenarios is key and on these occasions, we swiftly adapted our performances as required – for example, stopping mid-show for council announcements. We also began various elements of our performance a little earlier than expected, or later, as required, always alert to what was going on around us to ensure seamless events.
