The Showman Is Coming

The Showman is going on tour! Starting off at The Strule Arts Centre, Omagh on the 20th September you can catch the show touring throughout Ireland up until the end of the year.

The show combines the passion of Moulin Rouge, the spectacle of Barnum and the magic of  The Greatest Showman in this new show, bringing an eclectic mix of iconic songs from Somebody to Love, Rise Like a Phoenix, The Show Must Go On to This is the Greatest Show.

With dynamic dancers, singers and multi-talented performers, this show brings high-energy entertainment hosted by internationally renowned Peter Corry, Irelands Greatest Showman.

Cal Courtney

cal courtney biography

Cal is a professionally trained juggler, acrobat and dancer. Originally from Bangor, Northern Ireland, at 22 he now lives in The Netherlands, singing, dancing and juggling in his own show, “Cal the Musical”. Cal is really looking forward to performing in “The Showman is Coming”; taking the art-form that he loves and displaying it in his home country.

 

Jade Coyle

Jade trained at the musical theatre college- CPA studios before signing with a professional dance agency and pursuing auditions and work throughout London. Now home she is teaching freelance in Jazz and Ballet technique as well as BTDA Examinations, Musical Theatre for Kids, performing in professional productions in venues such as The Grand Opera House and the SSE Arena. She is a true performer at heart, passionate for her craft and lives for the stage.

 

Palmira Rendilheiro

Palmira (Mira) Rendilheiro is a professionally trained dancer from South Africa. Mira studied dance performance (and neuropsychology) at the University of Cape Town, before beginning her professional career. Mira has appeared in movies such as; Bring It On and Cinderella Live and has performed internationally (New York, India and Seychelles). Mira has been living in Belfast for 1 year with her partner and is delighted to be taking on the role of Dance Captain for this tour.

 

Maria Watton Graham

Originally from Coleraine, Northern Ireland, Maria trained at the University of Ulster and The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London. During the last decade she has been appearing on luxury cruise ships all over the world as a principle vocalist and headline artiste. Maria has performed in film, theatre, radio and at corporate events throughout the UK. She is delighted that she is joining Peter Corry and the cast of ‘The Showman is Coming’ and to once again perform in the place she calls home.

Emily McDonagh

Emily has studied dance from a young age, starting with the Sinead Leonard School of Dance, continuing on to Sallynoggin College of Further Education under Lucy Dundon and then to CPA College in Romford, London, acquiring a Higher Level Diploma in professional Musical Theatre and winning the Dance Award in her final year. Emily has been a member of pony dance for many years, serving first as an apprentice before becoming a fully-fledged member, performing with them in Belfast, Dublin and Edinburgh.

She is soon to take on the role of co-director, alongside, founder, Leonie McDonagh. She has recently been a part of SHARKTANK an award-winning collaborative piece made by The Movement Collective, based in Belfast. She created her own work ‘HOODIES’, a dance work featuring live original music that debuted in the Shaftesbury Square Theatre, (Accidental Theatre) Belfast. Emily has also been touring with YUCK circus, a multi-award winning, all-female circus company in Australia, with plans for international touring.

Emily has been choreographing for various artists such as Helen Ashton and Ross Anderson-Doherty. She performs regularly at the Cabaret SupperClub, Belfast. Last year she initiated a space and system for professional dancers to train/research for free in Belfast, called Dance Sessions, it is in conjunction with Ajendance Dance Company. She is a member of ‘The Vault Artist Studio’ – a collective space for artists, based in an old, disused college building in Belfast.

 

Anita Woods

Anita Woods is a circus artist based in Belfast. She specialises in aerial (including cloud swing, silks and Spanish web), and in hand balance. Anita started circus after being accepted into a full-time circus training programme ‘Advancement, into the future’ run by the Belfast circus school.

Since graduating she has worked professionally throughout Ireland, in America and in Europe.

 

Michael McEvoy

Michael McEvoy, 22 has just graduated from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance with a First Class Honours degree in Contemporary. Michaels ambitions are to one day start his own Contemporary company in Belfast, but in the meantime is thoroughly enjoying his role in The Showman is Coming.

As a contemporary dancer, Michaels love for live performance shares styles of jazz and circus but his passion lies with Release and Cunningham. Michael is also co-producer of a Belfast based musical theatre company, MMK Productions that focuses on creating semi-professional performance work for young people currently in or aiming to participate in professional training.
