This 2025 Christmas season was our busiest yet, here are some of the highlights.
The Victoria Square Express – Christmas Lights Switch On
The festive season kicked off in spectacular style with a really exciting brief from Victoria Square Shopping centre. We have been working with them for many years and get a real buzz out of their never-ending supply of new and innovative proposals. We can’t wait to hear what’s coming next. Last year we provided an aerial treat with our flying elf helping switch on the lights but for 2025 the question was, what can we do that we haven’t done before?
Well, we couldn’t resist pitching an all singing, all dancing immersive production piece. Luckily they loved it and plans were set in motion to help launch the announcement and opening of their new and beautiful grotto, The Victoria Square Express. Running with the theme we had our conductor, friendly train staff and plenty of passengers, elf and human playing their parts in creating a musical spectacular for the lights switch on. Of course, Santa was also there to make sure everything went perfectly.
Clarity and quality of sound in an echoey shopping centre were front and centre in our minds to get right and so it was an easy call to Forfey who provided the high quality technical provision (and great sense of fun) that we knew we needed.
Music was composed, costumes were designed, the show was scripted and routines were choreographed to make sure this would be a feast for the ears and eyes. We utilised using the stairwells to give us performances at different levels to connect with the audience spread across a large space. The Polar Express theme song was re-written and re-imagined specially as The Victoria Square Express.

As well as the initial lights switch on we also provided repeated performances throughout the day to allow for more people to be able to enjoy the spectacle and our magical characters provided animation in between shows.
Christmas At The Cathedral
This is always one of our annual highlights and marks our 5th year of shows in the gorgeous surroundings of St Anne’s Cathedral. It’s always a challenge to keep the shows feeling fresh and exciting for our established audience and to welcome in our new ones. We loved the programme his year but, don’t take our word for it, here’s what the audience thought of it.

It’s a busy set up and planning period for us as we bring a lot of infrastructure to the event to help transform the space into a successful events venue. That includes a small army of our own front of house staff, refreshment team and event management team on hand to look after any customer service needs. We pride ourselves on great relationships with our audience and work hard to make sure accessibility requirements are covered well in advance for a seamless nights enjoyment.
Christmas At Glenarm Castle
Glenarm approached us early in the year to look at bringing something new to their already successful and long established Christmas experience. Initially they wanted to look at including two performances but after further discussions around our initial proposal decided they wanted to broaden out some of our ideas into a broader world and make the overall experience more immersive.
This meant we got to do some World Building for this new Kingdom of Dalriada and working with our script writer, created a narrative thread for the whole visitor experience that would lead them through a 2 hour route.
After groups being allocated a head elf, they would then be led into the first of our performances which set up the challenge ahead, to help find the missing spirit of Christmas. Queen Aurora and chirpy head Woodman Scott Pine provided a fun introduction to the World and the mission before sending the audience on to the next stop on their route.
After some free time engaging with some of the activities onsite, visitors were then led into our second performance in Mrs Claus Test Kitchen which introduced Lolly the elf, who had accidentally set the spirit loose. Our Mrs Claus was a cross between Heston Blumenthall and Doc from Back To The Future with cookery and fire skills that captured everyone’s imaginations. As the storyline had to be kept quit on social media to keep the integrity of the story telling we weren’t able to share these at the time and it’s great to be able to do that post run.
Our actors performed short shows 3 times an hour across a two week period and so quality and consistency were key, we did that by hiring great performers.

The Showman Is Coming – Christmas Corporate Party
The Showman Is Coming is one of our tried and tested Ready To Go Shows, having entertained audiences at home and abroad. Callow Events approached us to bring the entertainment and showbiz of The Showman to their new Christmas Parties venture with the ICC. Not every company has a big events budget just yet so these parties are a great opportunity to test the waters.

Thank You to the PCP team!
You don’t always get to see the workers behind the scenes, without whom our events just wouldn’t be the same.
